Kia Lucky Motor Corporation (KLMC) has recently released teasers for two new vehicles, the Kia Stinger and Niro EV, on its social media pages. These vehicles were first teased as part of a marketing campaign in late 2020 and generated significant attention online, wrapped in the hashtag #WeAreUnstoppable along with a Sorento. KLMC has now announced plans to unveil these vehicles in an exclusive premiere in Pakistan.
Details For KIA Niro EV
The Kia Niro EV is a compact crossover that competes with vehicles like the Honda HR-V and Toyota RAV4. It is available with two electric motor powertrain options: a 130 horsepower (hp) motor that produces 394 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque and a 201 hp motor that also produces 394 Nm of torque.
The 130 hp version comes with a 39.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a range of 288 kilometres, as determined by the WLTP test cycle. The 201 hp version has a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides a range of 385 kilometres, according to the WLTP test cycle. Internationally, the Niro EV has a starting price of around 7.5 million Pakistani rupees, although it is not yet known how much it will cost in Pakistan.
Details For KIA Stinger
The Kia Stinger is a high-performance sedan that is often compared to vehicles such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes AMG C Class, and BMW 3 Series. It has two powertrain options: a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 251 hp and 353 Nm of torque and a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that produces 368 hp and 510 Nm of torque.
Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and can be configured to send power to the rear wheels or all four wheels, depending on the market. The base variant of the Stinger has an international starting price of around 8.5 million Pakistani rupees, while the V6 variant has a starting price of around 11.8 million Pakistani rupees. These prices will likely be higher in Pakistan due to the country’s economic and taxation policies.
What’s Bad News?
It is unfortunate that Kia Lucky Motor Corporation (KLMC) will be introducing the Kia Stinger and Niro EVs to the Pakistani market at a time when they are being discontinued or replaced in other markets. According to reports from South Korea, the Kia Stinger will no longer be available internationally as of April 2023, and an updated version of the Niro has already been released in other markets. However, it is possible that KLMC will continue to offer these models in Pakistan after they are discontinued elsewhere.
